2021 LEXUS IS 500 F SPORT PERFORMANCE: A FIRST OF IT'S KIND

North America has been a buzz since the news of the first-ever Lexus IS 500 F SPORT Performance media release was released this month. Not only does this new sports sedan expand the beloved IS line it is meant to usher in a new era of F SPORT Performance Lexus vehicles that will have driving enthusiasts and gear heads alike drooling.
This post will break down all the jaw-dropping elements featured in this new sedan and what Chief Engineer Naoki Kobayashi and the Lexus International team had in mind when they designed it.
SPEED DEMON
The Lexus IS 500 F SPORT Performance will be the first of its kind and will feature a 5.0-liter V8 engine that yields a whopping 472 hp at 7,100 rpm and 395 lb.-ft. of peak torque at 4,800 rpm. That might not be enough to get you excited, but a 0-to-100km/h speed time in just 4.6 seconds ought to do it. Excited yet? Other Performance enhancements include a quad exhaust system that features dual stacked tailpipes that sounds ferocious when fired up by the almighty V8.
The 2022 IS 500 will house the same eight-speed Sport Direct Shift automatic transmission inside the IS 300 RWD. Performance junkies will appreciate the drive mode select Sport S and Sport S+, which enhances performance. The Sport S+ mode also allows for adjustments to the steering assist that gives drivers more handling that’s in tune with all that power.
GORGEOUS EXTERIOR
Those with a thoughtful eye will notice the differences between the IS 500 and IS 350 F SPORT almost immediately. For starters, the hood has been raised almost 50 mm and showcases new center lines that add more drama to an already domineering sports car. The front bumper and fenders have also been lengthened making space for the v8 engine.
Standard 19-inch split-10-spoke Enkei alloy wheels add more flair while the dark chrome window trim and black rear IS F SPORT rear lip spoiler tie the subtleties together perfectly. Inside, drivers will find themselves wrapped in black F SPORT Performance badges and leather and a new startup animation that was created just for the IS 500.
ENFORM SAFETY CONNECT
The 2022 Lexus IS 500 will come with Enform Safety Connect which means access to the Lexus response centre that is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days of the year. Enform Service Connect also comes complimentary for the first 10 years of ownership, letting you check your Vehicle Health Report via the app whenever you need it. Finally, Enform Remote comes with a three-year-trial, giving you the ability to lock your doors or check your fuel levels directly from your phone.
