Black Friday is traditionally reserved for scoring great deals and discounts on our favourite items. This year, the ladies of Lexus South Pointe decided to do something a little different. Together, they collected almost 300 gently-used clothing items, accessories and toiletries for Suit Yourself, one of our favourite local charities.

Suit Yourself

Suit Yourself is a volunteer-driven organization that works with women facing barriers to employment. They accept donations of new and gently-worn business attire. Then, they schedule one-on-one appointments with women who are in need. Volunteers help build a wardrobe that will give each woman the confidence to succeed in their next interview.

This year alone Suit Yourself has helped over 600 local disadvantaged women gain access to the clothing and tools they need to succeed. With over 2,000 volunteer hours logged each year, Suit Yourself has quickly become one of our favourite Edmonton organizations. A true testament to the genuinely compassionate among us, and a resource for women struggling to make a change.

Giving Back

We have to admit, being able to give to an organization like Suit Yourself has its benefits. In addition to filling our hearts with gratitude, we’re thrilled to be able to make a difference right here in our backyard.

The ladies of Lexus collected dozens of bags of donations. We had everything from leather boots to suede jackets, jewelry and beyond. All perfect for new outfits for women starting out in the workforce.

We wanted to extend a special thank you to the team at Suit Yourself. Upon arrival, they gave us a tour of their facilities and we were blown away. In addition to being incredibly organized, it was beautiful inside, echoing the look-and-feel of a neighborhood boutique.

In addition to gently worn clothing items, Suit Yourself also accepts toiletries. This can include things like deodorant, hairbrushes or combs, shampoo and conditioner, body soap, feminine hygiene products and lotions. Unlike clothing, these items must be new.

We’re always looking for opportunities to give back. Whether that means lending a hand for the volunteers who selflessly serve our community or getting involved directly with those on the receiving end.

If you have clothing items you’d like to donate, or would like to participate in our next Edmonton clothing drive, comment below. And if you’re interested in learning more about Suit Yourself and what they do, visit their website!
