The 2020 Lexus RX 350 is landing in Edmonton any day now, and there are some exciting new changes to show off. The new RX will be the first Lexus SUV made right here in Canada. In fact, the assembly facility in Cambridge, Ontario is the first-ever Lexus plant outside of Japan!

Lexus has refreshed its best-selling RX luxury SUV for 2020, including a new look, interior features, and technology, including a first-ever Lexus touchscreen, six USB ports and the addition of Android Auto. Excited yet? We certainly are!

What’s New for 2020

Let’s start with the exterior. The 2020 Lexus RX 350 and RXL showcases a new front and rear fascia. Meanwhile, the front gets a new grille, bumper, headlights, and fog lights.

The spindle grille on the F-Sport now features black chrome. Buyers can also choose between different wheel sizes: upgraded models, F-Sport or hybrid, get 20-inch wheels while lower models have18-inch wheels.

The RX 350 and RX 350L are both powered by a 3.5-liter, direct-injection V6 engine that puts out 296 horsepower and 267 lb.ft. of torque. Instead of a six-speed transmission, however, the base model now comes with an eight-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel-drive.

Meanwhile, the RX 450h and RX 450hL are home to a 3.5-litre V6 engine paired with a CVT transmission and two high-torque electric motors equalling 308 horsepower.

Inside, find a plethora of new features and technology updates, including a new colour palette to choose from, six USB ports and an available panoramic roof. Our favourite part, though, is the new touchscreen (that’s right, we said it). Instead of using the trackpad in the centre, just interact with the screen itself!

As for music integration, owners can continue to use Apple CarPlay or— new for 2020 — Android Auto. For many none iPhone users, this is a huge gain for the new model. Right now, the 2020 RX will be the only Lexus model to offer Android Auto.

Paddle shifters come standard across all trims and premium packages receive the NuLuxe (synthetic leather) trim.

Lexus pays such close attention to detail that all the interior leather is done by engineers who are trained in manual dexterity for a minimum of six months before they are allowed to work on RX. It’s truly little details like this that set Lexus apart in the industry.

Lexus Safety System-Plus 2.0 Now Standard

Lexus Safety System-Plus 2.0 is now standard across the entire RX lineup. That means pedestrian and bicyclist detection, lane tracing and road sign assist, dynamic radar cruise control and intelligent high beams are included.
